Sorry about the lack of posting lately - I hope to be getting stuck back into writing up posts soon! :D I have a little bedside daily devotional by Kay Arthur that has had some really insightful readings that I thought I would share with you today. Here they are, with the commentary from the devotional in italics. :)
A Matter of Obedience
"At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored Him who lives forever...He does according to His will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay his hand or say to him, “What have you done?” ~ Daniel 4:34-35
Are you in a predicament? You could not be where you are without the Lord's foreknowledge. God is soverign: He rules over all, nothing happens without His permission. Rejoicing is a matter of obedience - an obedience that will start you on the road to peace and contentment.
"Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!" ~ Philippians 4:4
Do you want to know a sure way to have victory and peace in the midst of any situation? Rejoice! The minute you begin rejoicing, your circumstances cease to control you. The command to rejoice does not mean rejoicing in your circumstances; it means rejoicing in your Savior who is Lord over every circumstance.
"I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am." ~ Philippians 4:11
Yes, Beloved, circumstances can also rob us of our joy. The apostle Paul was well aware of this as He wrote to the believers at Philippi, for He Himself was a prisoner of Rome. Yet Paul lived in peace and contentment despite his circumstances. How? Christ was his life. All he wanted was for Jesus to be exalted in his body, whether by life or by death.
A Steadfast Spirit
"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." ~ Psalm 51:10
Can you change whatever is robbing you of joy? Turn it around? Rectify it? Live without it? If there is nothing you can do to change it, then be obedient, walk in faith, and forget those things which are behind and press on toward the prize of your high calling in Christ Jesus.
Also... I read a BRILLIANT article today, I highly recommend you read it! It can be found here: http://www.feminagirls.com/2014/02/24/fight-for-us/#more-6205
